History and origins
The Porcelaine is one of the oldest French scent hounds, from the Franche-Comté region near the Swiss border. It hunts hare and roe deer.
Its name comes from its short, shiny coat, reminiscent of porcelain.
Temperament
Gentle, sociable and affectionate, the Porcelaine lives well in a pack and gets on with other dogs. It is more independent than obedient.
Its hunting instinct is very strong.
Health
This is a robust breed with few known inherited problems.
Regular veterinary check-ups and attention to the ears are usually enough.
